Yokoo Tadanori

September 18, 2012

Yokoo Tadanori is known as possibly the most influential graphic designer to come out of Japan. His designs are bright, sometimes shocking, and likened to the works of Andy Warhol. All of Yokoo Tadanori’s works were very personal, while being a reflection of Japanese society during the 60’s and 70’s. Yokoo tended to use recurring images in his work, most notable being the rising sun motif that Japan is famous for as well as waterfalls; he was even commissioned to put on an exhibition of nothing but postcards with waterfalls.  He has also designed theater sets, both in Japan and Italy.
