Louise Fili Ltd. Design and Typography books

September 20, 2012

Louise Fili Ltd. started off as an illustrator for books, then turned to designing packaging, logos, and restaurant names.  Her use of delicate typography can be seen on labels such as; Bella Cucina, Sarabeth’s, Tate’s, Williams-Sonoma, Jean-Georges, and many others.  In many cases she references back to the use of the word or company to create euro-inspired letterings.  Inspirations from victorian era, 19th century engravings, German posters of 1900’s, vintage European alphabet, French and California combinations, and handwritten samples from 1930’s all give her look the delicate, yet refurbished idea companies look for when redesigning.  She has written a few books in relation to typography, lettering, Euro deco graphic design, etc.  Stylepedia is a mini encylopedia of iconic graphic design and symbols with significant movements from Art Nouveau to postmodern.
