The Bronx Zoo
October 23, 2012
I chose to discuss the Bronx Zoo’s logo because I believe they use positive and negative space effectively, as well as creating ambiguity as to what is the actual positive and negative space. In the logo you see both giraffes, birds, and a skyline view of buildings representing the fact that the zoo is in the city. You almost don’t see the buildings because they are made out of the negative space formed by the giraffe’s legs. I think this technique is highly effective in this case because it makes the viewer think. This design was created by Caroline Madigan- her website can be found here .
