Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium

October 23, 2012

The logo for the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium has a good use of positive and negative space.  In the positive space the viewer can easily see a tree with birds flying overhead.  Upon closer view, it becomes obvious that their are a gorilla, a snow leopard, and fish in the negative space of the design.

In a discussion on the website it becomes apparent that the artist in Pittsburgh who designed the logo was not allowed to take credit for it.  If you want to use the logo, you should credit the Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium.

This is the organization’s website, http://www.pittsburghzoo.org/.  When you go to the website you see the logo in the middle of the banner.  It’s colors have changed to white in the positive space and green in the negative space.  Other than the logo the website does an overall great job using digital and photographic images to catch the attention of the visitor.
