Creative Self Promotion

November 29, 2012

For the creative self-promotion piece, I chose a portfolio done when the designer, Susan Redmond Murphy was a student.  Her piece has a distinct balance between being eye catching and artistic and being a portfolio.

In the portfolio, you can clearly see the presence of necessary information with the text and the inserted booklet that has her best work laid out in a straight forward way.  By adding more subtle backgrounds she allows the work to speak for itself.  I enjoy the dark fuchsia color as well as the swirl design.  Even the way she placed “print work” is typographically interesting and works very well.  The last page comes with a removable business card which is clever and useful.  Here is a link back to the blog where I found her work http://idesigniblog.com/2012/07/17/student-profile-susan-redmond-murphy/    and here is a link back to Susan’s actual blog with some interesting pieces http://susanredmondmurphy.blogspot.co.uk/.
